Attorney General Wins $539,000 Judgment against Couple for Fraudulently Enrolling Children in DCPS

WASHINGTON, D. C. – Attorney General Karl A. Racine announced today that the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has won a $539,000 judgment against a couple for fraudulently enrolling their three children in D.C. Public Schools (DCPS) while they lived in Maryland and Virginia. The decision comes in District of Columbia v. Hill, et al., 2015 CA 004210 B (D.C. Super. Ct.), a case the District first brought last year.

AG Racine Sues Four Maryland Parents and DCPS Employee for Residency Fraud at D.C. Schools, Seeks $450K+ in Unpaid Tuition, Damages and Fines

WASHINGTON, D.C.–Attorney General Karl A. Racine today announced lawsuits against four Maryland parents for falsifying District residency to send their children to D.C. Public Schools (DCPS) for free. Additionally, AG Racine is suing a DCPS employee for conspiring with one of the parents to enroll her non-resident daughter in a DCPS school.

Racine today announced that the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has filed a lawsuit against two officers in the Metropolitan Police Department for violating the DC False Claims Act by fraudulently enrolling their three children in DC Public Schools (DCPS). The suit accuses Lt. Alan Hill and Sgt. Candace Hill of using a false DC address to enroll their children, tuition-free, at public schools near the Second District police station in Cleveland Park.

Racine today announced that the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has intervened in a lawsuit against a Maryland resident for fraudulently charging a local adult soccer league to rent D.C. Public Schools (DCPS) athletic fields and then pocketing the money. The suit alleges that, between 2009 and 2013, Larry Washington and two of his companies took more than $120,000 in rental payments from the Washington International Soccer League (WISL), failing to remit any of the money to DCPS.
