The World Islands
The World Islands are a group of artificial archipelagos consisting of 300 man-made islands that when viewed all together in an aerial view, closely resemble the shape of the world map. These artificial islands were launched in the early 2000s and are located about 4 kilometres off the coast of Dubai’s city.
The islands were constructed from dredged and reclaimed tonnes of sand, and this is a thoroughly creative idea that the architects envisioned. The project wasn’t an easy one to complete as the construction was faced with some challenges, however, the phenomenal completion of the islands made up for it.
The World Islands have an incredible aerial view. When you view the islands from space or from the highest viewable point in the Burj Khalifa, it can be seen in the shape of the world map.
